March 7, 2024 and we stopped in for a late lunch.
The Morcilla (Argentinian blood sausage) was as good as ever. The Pulpo (marinated then sautéed octopus with olive oil, garlic, parsley, potatoes, and paprika) is absolutely delicious.
And the empanadas were tasty as well.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Apr 16, 2022Previous reviewOn April 9, 2022 we came in for lunch.
The Pulpo "La Ribera" - Marinated octopus sautéed with olive oil, garlic, parsley, potatoes and paprika is absolutely wonderful and I order it every time we are vacationing in the area. And I order my next favorite as a side dish, and that is Morcilla - Argentinean blood sausage.
The empanadas are good too and the Chumichurri (chopped fresh parsley seasoned with garlic and herbs and bound with oil & vinegar) that comes with it was wonderful too.
I look forward to returning.May 27, 2018Previous reviewMay 27, 2018 - Excellent service and wonderful food. We had the "Rabas Mixtas" - fried calamari, shrimp, and vegetables with garlic. And "Pulpo La Ribera" - marinated octopus sautéed with olive oil, garlic, parsley, paprika and potatoes. Both dishes were very good and I would recommend them.

Argentinian restaurant in Little Italy! Cute old-fashioned interior with densely packed tables. Good wine selection. Friendly staff.
I am a fan of Argentinian food, but I must say this is about average when it comes to Argentinian food.
Sausage was good, empanadas not so great. Milanese was dry and tough to eat. Alfajores were overly seasoned with coconut. All in all I would say bellow average but good service made up for it to a degree...Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Mar 7, 2024
We have been coming here for years. Discovered this place for restaurant week and has since become one of our favorite restaurant week stops every year. (We also come in when it isn't restaurant week.) Through the years, the menu has changed slightly; but one thing that has stayed consistent is the awesome and friendly service and quality of food.
Hubby always orders the Entraña Argentinian steak and rice. I opt for the picaña, but ever since they took it off their restaurant week menu, I order the entraña or salmon. Your meal comes with complimentary bread, along with olives, herbed butter and chimichurri. These appetizers alone will definitely make you full even before you start the main course.
You do have to try their empanadas. I always order the corn and cheese, but there is also beef, chicken, spinach and cheese. Try it with some chimichurri! You're welcome!
Located on India street in Little Italy; parking is always a challenge. The hubby and I enjoy dining here so much that we don't mind scouting for parking.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 3, 2024
My first time at an Argentinian restaurant! I've only ever had Argentinian food at my boyfriend's family's house, which is hard to beat. However, this place did a good job. Visited this place while in San Diego, we made reservations earlier that day. Service was a little slow but worth it for the food! I had a sangria which was good! We would definitely be back!

We were craving Argentinian...so we came to this place. We called ahead to see if they allow dogs in their outdoor seating area which they still do. We ordered the Picana for two people and their beef emprenda. Both were delicious, especially with their chimichurri. Wish we got some veggies with our steak and fries, but overall, a nice dinner when you're craving meat.

Came on a Friday evening to celebrate a birthday! We had a reservation for 7PM, but were struggling to find parking near Little Italy (as always). Thankfully the staff at Puerto La Boca were very gracious and seated us at our table towards the back room. We actually preferred the back room as it was a bit brighter than the main dining hall which was packed with people!
Upon being seated we were served very quickly and checked in on throughout the night. The service was great!
But the real star of the show was the food. We started with the Bread and Chimichurri, which as all the other reviews state is a must get. The bread was great, but the toppings it came with (chimichurri, compound butter, and olives). We also got a Chicken Empanada to pair with our all beef entrees! This was a great touch, filled with a heartwarming chicken filling.
We got the Entrana (Skirt Steak) and the Picana "Al Roquefort" with a side of the garlic fries for both. The Picana is a bit tougher of a cut of steak, but when cut up the flavor really holds. Since the "Al Roquefort" comes with cheese on top, it made an extremely savory dish. It even comes with shrimp which was a great touch! But honestly, the plain Entrana dish was amazing. I have never had a skirt steak packed with so much flavor in every single bite!! There is essentially no sauce or anything, but there is an abnormal amount of juicy flavor in each cut was unbelievable. Cannot recommend this place enough for a great Argentinian style steak!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 4103644Oct 3, 2023
Lord and behold we had Messi's favorite dish here;
Milanesa Napolitana! It was really good but next time we will definitely try it chicken instead of beef! It was nice to have the option' and we went with beef!
Bread with chimichurri is a must! Also had langostinos in ajillo, a fresh fig salad, and cheese and beef raviolis!
Service was great, from being greeted and seated to being served all our food. We sat right in front of the bar and had 2 tv's available to watch the sports we wanted to tune into! Super thanks for that!
Food was very well prepared, didn't take long and all flavors blended great and was seasoned just right. Music was playing in the background the whole time and that was ok because volume wasn't super loud.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Christina L.Henderson, NV3173968Jan 7, 2024
We came across this spot during a girls trip. The drink menu and drinks we great. We had a mango mojito, raspberry mojito, manhattan and espresso martini to start, for food, we tried beef and chicken empanadas, shrimp and octopus appetizers plus the soup of the day, minestrone.
For main courses we had steak and chicken alfredo.
We loved the purse trees they had available for guests.
We walked in and were able to get a table for 6 on a Friday afternoon.
The atmosphere was good for our group and had an a great wine wall and wine selection.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christian B.Hermosa Beach, CA20191421Nov 13, 2023
What a wonderful evening at Puerto, La Boca!
The food was delicious and the service was amazing! Staff were very pleasant and welcoming.
The 12oz skirt steak is very flavorful, tender, and delicious. Entrees served with a myriad of delicious side dishes. We loved Puerto La Boca's bread & olives w/ chimichurri, empanadas, churrasco, entrana, and lomo de malena.
All appetizers and desserts are a must!
Great atmosphere, good value for the money.
Loved the live music!
Great Argentinian food in San Diego. Would come back and recommend to anyone wanting great food in a nice setting.
100% recommend it.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jul 27, 2023Updated review
Came back here recently on an empty Thursday night and the waiter was not very welcoming and kind of impatient with us at the end, not the similar experience I had before. On top of that, the empanadas feel smaller and the picana was super tough. The picana at Brazilian places are way way better in my opinion.
The mixed grilled option is good cause you get a sampling of everything but it is a good $70 option for 2. Overall this last experience wasn't as I remembered this place to be.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Apr 18, 2019Previous reviewI'm not an Argentine but this is some bomb.com asado. They do pariillada correcto here. The picana is everything, think of butta but betta. My second favorite was the mollejas or sweetbread. Don't google what it is or you Americans won't eat it.
Everything in the mixta was solid AF. The meat was flavorful and perfectly cooked. I was surprised for a parrilla that the restaurant didn't reek of bbq smells and I didn't leave smelling like smoke.
I wanted to get the starter bread which is usually complementary but not here. I'd skip that because it's a trap! All filler. Save that stomach real estate for the carne, por favor.
Gracias Puerto la Boca, my Argentine BF declared this was hands down the best and most representative of parrilla outside of of Argentina. Keep doin what you're doin!
PS: can you start a sister restaurant in SF por favor?
